Photofacial (IPL) in Spring & The Woodlands

IPL delivers controlled light pulses that target pigment and vascular imperfections while supporting a clearer, more even appearance over a series of treatments. Concerns commonly addressed include sun/age spots, freckles, discoloration, and redness-related concerns such as rosacea (candidacy confirmed in consult). Typical cadence: Often about 2–6 sessions, spaced 2–4 weeks apart, depending on the concern. Some shallow pigmentation may improve in fewer sessions; your provider sets the plan.

1. Confirm sun-prep and medical history (including Accutane, blood thinners)
2. Cleanse; eye shields; optional topical numbing (arrive early if used)
3. IPL treatment (often ~45–90 minutes depending on area)
4. Cooling as needed; pinkness like mild sunburn for a few hours is common
5. SPF + sun avoidance; return for series appointments

How does it work?
Light energy targets imperfections in a controlled way. Treated pigment often darkens temporarily, then clears as skin renews. Tone and texture can improve across a series.

What are the risks?
Redness, swelling, pigment changes, or (rarely) blistering/crusting or scarring. Hyperpigmentation can occur in some skin types—call us if unusual darkening appears. Follow sun rules closely.

What should I do before and after?
Before: No sun/tanning beds ≥4 weeks; no self-tanner ≥2 weeks; wait ~2 weeks after Botox and ~4 weeks after fillers; ask about pausing aspirin/ibuprofen; tell us about Accutane in the past year or blood thinners.
After: Cool compress/gel as directed; makeup often OK once redness settles; brown spots may look darker while healing; avoid aspirin/ibuprofen, alcohol, and flushing workouts ~2 days; avoid retinols/acids ~1 week; SPF 30+ and limited direct sun for 4–6 weeks.

When will I see results?
Some concerns improve in 1–2 sessions; most need a short series. Optimal results usually build across treatments.

Is it right for me?
Not suitable with active infections, certain inflammatory skin conditions, skin cancer, or other contraindications your provider screens for. Often pairs well with peels, microneedling, or medical-grade skincare when appropriate.
